"Nightfall: An Invitational Art Exhibit Featuring Night Paintings by Nine Regional Artists”

[RHINEBECK, NEW YORK] - Betsy Jacaruso Gallery announces the highly anticipated, annual summer invitational art exhibition, titled this year, "Nightfall.” The exhibition features a selection of paintings and printmaking that nod to an aesthetic regard of nighttime.

"Nightfall" is on view starting July 22nd, until August 13th, at Betsy Jacaruso Gallery, located in the heart of the village of Rhinebeck. Curated by Kate Kester, with Betsy Jacaruso, the exhibit includes esteemed regional artists whose works are collected nationally and internationally: Scott Ackerman, Marie Cole, Betsy Jacaruso, Louise Kalin, JoAnne Lobotsky, Patrick Madden, Richard Marr, Michael McGrath, and Thomas Sarrantonio.

"Our intention with 'Nightfall' is to create an ethereal, yet tenebrous display of images. With a sheath of darkness fallen, some of the works take on the void or absence of light as their central theme. In others, the night is merely a setting in which the magical inner workings of nature are enlivened.” - Kate Kester, Co-curator.

The gallery will host an opening reception on Saturday, July 22, from 5 pm - 7 pm. The celebration is free and open to the public, with light refreshments provided. As an additional proponent to this exhibit, donations will be collected at the opening for the Dutchess County SPCA, a non-profit, no-kill shelter funded almost entirely by private donations. As strong advocates for both the arts and animal welfare, Betsy Jacaruso Gallery asks for optional donations of highly-needed items such as towels, flat sheets, and dog treats in addition to the full list stated below and on the DSPCA website. These essential items will be of immense value in providing comfort and care to the animals awaiting their forever homes at the shelter.

Dutchess County SPCA is a no-kill shelter, and the only animal welfare organization in Dutchess County chartered to enforce humane law. Founded in 1871, Dutchess County SPCA is one of the oldest SPCAs in the country. Dutchess County SPCA is not a governmental agency, nor is it affiliated with the ASPCA. It is an independent charity, funded almost entirely by private donations.

The Dutchess County SPCA is in need of the following physical donations as well as monetary contributions: Unopened dog and cat kibble, unopened dog and cat canned food, towels, unfrayed blankets with no fringe, flat sheets (no fitted sheets), comforters, harnesses and leashes in good condition, dog and cat toys without rope or string, cat trees in good condition, clean crates and carriers, unopened cat litter, clean uncovered litter boxes, paper towels, clean metal or ceramic bowls. Donations will be collected outside of the gallery in the courtyard. Visit https://www.dcspca.org/donations to learn more about how to help.

Betsy Jacaruso Gallery is located in the Rhinebeck Courtyard, 43-2 East Market Street, Rhinebeck NY, and gallery hours for viewing are Friday & Saturday 11 am - 5 pm, Sunday 11 am - 4 pm, and by appointment (email info@betsyjacaruso.com). Follow @betsyjacarusogallery on Instagram for more updates
